Mary J Blidge No More Drama
I feel that this song went well with the theme of the book because there were plenty of times in the book where people could have changed the way Hannah felt but instead they just caused her more drama.
Protagonist Clay
Enrique Iglesias Hero
I really chose this song for my protagonist because of most of the lyrics that are in the song. Because of how Clay just wanted to be there for her and how he really wanted to just help her because he didn't want her to commit suicide.
Chris Brown Don't Judge Me
I picked this song for Hannah because there are times in the book where people say things about her or end up doing something to her, because of what they heard about her from other people. Then people end up on the tapes.
Mary J Blidge Fade Away
I picked this song because it fit the climax of the story. It's when clay hears his story and finds out who has the other set of tapes. And it really just seemed like he wanted to fade away for leaving Hannah.
Overall Song
Soundtrack Drama Vol 1
I felt this instrumental went well with this song because it kind of starts calm like in the book and then it gets like more interesting.

ReplyDeleteI like your selection of "No More Pain" for the theme of the book, and I think you could talk about the desperation Hannah felt in her life. While she never asked anyone for help, it was clear in her tapes that she desperately wanted someone to take the pain away. I'd like to see your explanations use pieces from the book to make your connections a bit clearer.
"Hero" - this could certainly be Clay speaking directly to Hannah. He wanted to be there and to help her, but just didn't make it in time. You may also want to talk about the sadness in the song and how that seems to mirror the sadness Clay feels after her death, knowing he could have done something.
"Don't Judge Me" - what lyrics from the song do you think connect back to the book? I'd love to see what quotes you could find that seem to match what Chris Brown sings. I think that Hannah definitely struggles with being judged and can't seem to find a way to get away from it. It seems to follow her wherever she goes, and it eventually becomes her undoing. Could you even connect this to Brown's life experience?
